Also, what it means be a reader or a viewer. There’s a new sense that you mustn’t just lose yourself in a narrative but think about how that narrative is formed and shaped, and who is talking to you. In a way, modernism exposes some of the clockwork of the makings of art

But the great high modernists were largely British or Irish. Eliot, WB Yeats, Joyce, Woolf, DH Lawrence and Joseph Conrad are the great pillars of literary reform in the early 20th century... Any of the great modernists texts – such as James Joyce’s Ulysses, TS Eliot’s The WastelandVirginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse – were built out of fragments of past styles, past literature, past traditions. So there is a link to the past with modernism, but there’s a new sense of how we view that past... this drive towards change – the urgency with which people were calling for a new world, a kind of utopian vision... high modernism was very much internationalist.

The politician Savarkar often overshadows the scholar and thinker Savarkar! Ambedkar is recognized as a big thinker by many Hindu Nationalists today, but not Savarkar. Savarkar the writer was Sitaram Goel, Ram Swarup of his time.Very informed, intelligent and perceptive! https://twitter.com/Mahasamudra27m/status/1720121296363954216?t=fq_YERBhifH3-1YdPwON-g&s=19

Yes, very surprising! SRG actually even recycled MANY of Savarkar's arguments in some of his books (possibly without even knowing)! Maybe because SRG had more of a Bengali cultural background and wasn't too aware of the breadth of Savarkar's works? In any case, it's strange. 1. I strongly disagree that with VS, "it was opposite", but yes, he did not get enough time to write much on spirituality, unlike Aurobindo. That might be 1 big reason why he was loved by SRG. 2. VS fulfilled the needs of his own times, as SRG did for his own. Even then, VS has criticized Islm and Xianity in his books and for Islm, even criticized with proper Kuran references. He did not write a book specifically dedicated to Islm criticism, yes. But that was because Swami Dayananda had already done so. VS strongly promoted Satyarth Prakash. But do you disagree? I think these reasons are enough - that Aurobindo, Vivekananda wrote a lot on philosophy/spirituality while VS didn't.  SRG loved the formers more coz of this. As for understanding Abrahamic relgns is concerned, VS understood both Islm, Xnity well.

...

SRG surprisingly barely talked about Savarkar in his books. Vivekananda and Aurobindo always feature in his books, Savarkar, almost never.

https://twitter.com/Redpilldbrahmin/status/1720338403529793886?t=ji1EwQfVs2nbbGNwukXoYQ&s=19

Reasons: 1. SRG was a very spiritual Hindu, very well read on Vedanta and even Buddhism. He got into spirituality first and then only got into politics. With Savarkar, it was opposite. 2. SRG actually analyzed the primary sources of islam to find the root cause of M behavior whereas Savarkar mostly focused on historical enmity between the two Qaums. Savarkar could've never written books like Calcutta Quran petition or H temples what happened to them?
