This is why I disagree with Jit’s view that Vedic structure brought rigidity. As men lost the inner sense and latched onto the visible and tangible, the heights of the Veda gets ossified. And men do have a tendency to make systems out of nothing. Period of dismantling is good too

Social indices may not tell the full story as many feminists from Kerala ( like J Devika, Anna Vetticad ) have written about the (toxic) masculinity portrayed and lauded in Malayali films. If literature is a mirror to society then films certainly are too, no?
Also I think that Hindi film makers, coming from the anglophone elite as they do, are more sensitive to criticism from the english speaking elite and their values. This may have lead Hindi films to have adopted a more corrective course in the last decade especially

I have no gyaan to share other than to say that while we are constrained to find ways to stay alive, clothed and sheltered
- we need to think harder against privatising the commons
- our personal choices do not make as big of a difference as the political and policy choices
- the political choices present leadership is making are obsessively driven by efficiency & profit maximising which will not help us in climate and water crisis because some of us will perish sooner than others
- and their blood will be on our hands.
